"The Path to Sustainable Development"
The challenge of sustainable development combining economic progress, social inclusion, and global environmental sustainability is unique to our time. Problems such as climate change and rising social inequality are pressing, complex and novel. They require new tools of analysis and new methods of solution, from the local to the global scales. This lecture will discuss sustainable development as an emerging scholarly discipline and as an urgent policy imperative, and will describe the evolving role of universities and other social institutions in addressing these complex challenges.
The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
