21st Annual David N. Dinkins Leadership and Public Policy Forum
Date: April 24, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm EDT
Location: Miller Theatre, 2960 Broadway, New York, NY 10027
The David N. Dinkins Leadership and Public Policy Forum is named after the 106th Mayor of the nation's largest city and the first African American Mayor elected in New York City. The annual forum provides a vehicle for analysis, focus, and dialogue around the dynamic elements of urban policies, programs, and initiatives. For the past 21 years, this annual forum has addressed many of the challenging issues including education, the environment, labor, tourism, immigration, and fiscal crises that successful urban ecosystems must contend with. This year, Professor Dinkins will welcome 82nd Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder to deliver Keynote remarks. Mr. Holder’s participation is further proof of his commitment to Columbia University, as both an undergrad and Law school graduate, and to shaping young leaders for the future. His appearance also comes at a time in which the Eric H. Holder Initiative for Civil and Political Rights recently launched at Columbia College as a vehicle for students to extend themes and questions of their studies into a focused interrogation of the mechanisms that promote justice and political rights. Discouraging retreat into what Holder calls “the quiet prejudice of inaction,” the Holder Initiative will encourage students to act in support of their civic duty on and beyond campus. The Honorable Eric Holder will join the Forum's legacy of keynoters that includes notables such as Congressman John Lewis, Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Vice President Al Gore, Rep. Charles Rangel, Mayors Ed Rendell, Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio, and labor leaders like John Sweeney, Lillian Roberts, Randi Weingarten and Dennis Rivera. 21th Annual David N.
